Hello All!
We are currently blogging from an internet cafe because our hostel computer is so terrible and we only have 18 paid minutes left to write this!! Waaahhhh
Yesterday was a very eventful day filled with a ton of unexpected activities! We started the day with renting bikes and decided to bike down the path along the Canal de Lachine. It was really pretty but much shorter than we thought it would be. We ended the path at the Atwater Markets which primarily sold plants, flowers and some vegetables. We made the smart decision and got ice cream!
After the canal path, we still had a lot of day left so we biked across a bridge to the Parc Jean Drapeau, which was a small island in the Saint-Laurent river. The island had a lot of grassy areas and nice bike paths, but other than that there wasn't a lot to see there. We biked for a while but after unsuccessfully finding any of the lookout points we wanted to find, we decided to bike back to the mainland.

We biked along the canal in the other direction this time and discovered a whole new area called Old Port (Vieux-Port). It was a really scenic/cute spot interspersed with shops along the water, parks and great bike baths. We continued to bike until we stumbled upon another new area which was home the the Clock Tower. It was open to the public so we climbed all 192 steps to the top and discovered a great view of the city! Enjoy below:
After the clock tower, we decided we needed a break from biking (our butts were really sore) so we returned the bikes and found a restaurant with happy hour to enjoy a well deserved beer! This one is in the running as our new Canadienne favorite, called Blanche de Chambly-- especially because it comes with an orange just like Blue Moon!
After our drink stop, we stumbled into a gift shop and bought some really cool tourist hats that are very Canadienne! We hopped on the metro home and were completely exhausted by the end of the day. We wrapped it up with a lovely game of cribbage, Phen won with beginner's luck (happens every time).
Until next time,
G&C
