Welcome to Quebec!

Greetings all,

On Thursday, we woke up at the ungodly hour of 5 am to catch our train to Quebec City. The train was really nice, much more room than an airplane and it went really fast and smooth. At least... we think it did because we both slept the entire way.

We arrived at our hostel and decided to hit the town right away and start exploring. We walked through part of downtown and then went upstairs (literally) to uptown. We felt like we were playing real-life chutes and ladders--if you saw the map, you would understand. There are these adorable little ladder symbols on the map to represent where all the staircases are.

We walked by the Grand Theatre of Quebec and took a grubby picture (train all morning, don't be hatin'). Most of uptown was filled with restaurants and little shops. We tried to go into this historic house but it was closed, probably for the better... it seemed like a death trap. #notTaken

There is also another section in uptown dedicated to goverment buildings and pretty grassy areas. Below is a picture of the parliament building. We tried to go inside for a tour but apparently there were too many things happening that day. Plus, we were severely underdressed.

Quebec's "State Capitol Building" (not as cool as Madison's though)

Christina found a fellow feminist! This chick fought for Canadian women's rights or some shit #suffrage!

Phen reading everything, learning about history or whatevs #didn'twejustfinishschool?
Phen reads, Christina takes selfies

After all the government buildings and history stuffs, our stomachs decided we desperately needed refueling. Lucky for us there was this cute pizzeria called Piazzetta (see logo).
We bon appetited, we loved it, see photo, be jealous.

Post lunch, we had heaps of energy so we stopped at a few more tourist destinations including a chocolate museum and a shopping market. We also strolled the streets and discovered all sorts of architecture that gives Quebec so much character!

We ventured out one last time for the day to go to the grocery store, and stumbled upon what we called the Quebec City interior decorating district. It was a nice street with all sorts of cool stores with furniture and decorations (similar to those you would see on HGTV). We concluded with all of our artistic ability that we could basically make everything in those stores with pieces from Goodwill, and maybe a hot glue gun. #justsayin' #overconfidence

After we got back to the hostel we had a nice evening relaxing, watching Ellen videos, making delicious wraps, painting our nails, and of course cribbage. The score is 2-2 #theteacheralwayscomesback (Sound familiar, Ben?)

Ciao!
