Steps on steps on steps

Howdy ya'll (Christina is training for her next vacation to Texas)

While it was hard to leave the cuteness of Quebec City, we planned a little out-of-city adventure for the day to a nearby falls at Parc de la Chute-Montmorency. A short bus ride later, we were invited to the sites and sounds of crashing water.

According to Wikipedia (and the signs, if you read them all like Phen does), the falls are the largest in Quebec and taller than Niagra Falls! Staircases surround all sides of the falls, and being the athletic tourists we are, we ascended and descended them all #like1000steps (but, really 487 each way = 947).

Looks like dirt, really it's jagged sheets of rock!

We grossly underestimated how awesome we are, and traversed the Parc before 1p! Since we had already conquered the falls, we returned to Quebec City and walked over to The Plains of Abraham, one of the remaining parts of town we had not yet explored. This is the historic site of the 1775 Battle of Quebec, which now has been turned into a big green park area with lots of museums, monuments, and busts of famous war heroes' heads. The area is pretty expansive and we spent a couple hours walking around. There were also a few trails leading into the woods during which we discovered another huge flight of stairs-- we're talking like 200 each way. A whole bunch of Canadians were running, skipping, trotting, and lunging up each flight of stairs. Naturally, we wanted to show them up, so we completed one set of 400 stairs and concluded we could have totally beat them if we had wanted to. We read later, upon returning to our hostel, that Quebec City is hosting a staircase challenge (http://www.couriraquebec.com/staircasechallenge/) on June 16, which explains all the intense training Canadians we have seen. Too bad we leave June 15....#couldhavebroughtthegoldhomefortheUSA

At night, we went to a very famous microbrewery in Quebec. Below are the before and after pics. The beers included: Rye-PA, Weizen bock, American lager, porter, amber, and weiss/blonde. It was amazing. Enough said.

Success! Can you tell which one was our favorite?

With love (and very sore knees),
