Montreal from above!

Hi Friends,

On Wednesday, we decided to take a nature hike to one of the main lookout points in Montreal, Mont Royal. It was the perfect date destination, and to top it off, we even dressed the same!#twindayinmontreal

There were many different routes to choose from, some of which involved more stairs and hardcore climbing skills than others. We opted for the bike/running trail that slowly "essed" it's way up to the top. The view was well worth the walk and the wait! What a beautiful view of Montreal! It was even more exciting to see everything at the same time (and not in the form of squares and circles on our now tattered map). We were impressed to see how much of the city we had covered (practically end to end), all of which could be identified from the lookout point.

True tourists keep maps close to the hip

After taking in the city from the Mont Royal lookout point, we returned to the trails to walk a bit more. We took a pitstop in the park to eat a snack and naturally picked up the frisbee to toss around. Instantly, we became the attraction of the park #goUSA. Two Canadians eagerly asked to join in the fun, so we threw the frisbee around while getting to know one another. The best moment was when two (adorable) Japanese men eating at a picnic table nearby joined the circle. One had never held, let alone thrown or caught a frisbee, so it was quite entertaining! At one point, he threw the frisbee so forcefully, he pushed himself backwards and fell! But, after a few minutes, both of them were pros. Our time playing frisbee in the park was a testament to both how great the city is and how friendly the people of Quebec are!

We spent the rest of our afternoon meandering the trails until finally unwinding at another nearby park area. Instead of the frisbee, this time we whipped out a bottle of wine and the cribbage board #sosophisticated. Phen is now 2-1 against Christina (she just rolled her eyes)--stay tuned for the final score at the end of the trip #startmakingbets. (Phen talks a lot of shit, she will learn her place someday)

As much as we could have played cards all day, we had to get moving to meet up with Christina's friend Danna, who graciously agreed to give us a tour of McGill University (The Hahvard of Canada, so they say), where she is a student. It was a great, majestic campus right in the heart of Montreal. The buildings were a mix of really old castle-types and newer modern buildings.

After the tour, we ended our adventurous day out in the city like the rest with a little happy hour (called cinq a sept in Montreal or 5 to 7p).

Back at the hostel, we had one of our most ambitious dinners yet to avoid having to pack/transport too much food to Quebec City, our next destination! We polished off a box o' pasta + full bag o' shredded cheese + complete jar o' pasta sauce (@mmoreno if you're reading this--> #FGCinthebigC)

Quite predictably, the dinner put G & C to bed for an early Montreal night which was ideal because we had a 6a train to catch the next morning!

Sweet Dreams and LOL (Lots of Love),

G&C
